What is MPPT?
The Turkish meaning of the word MPPT is 'Maximum Power Point Tracker'. As its name suggests, it ensures that the power obtained in certain periods is sent to the load by tracking its peak value. In a way, we can say that MPPTs are the intersection of alternative energy systems . Thanks to these electronic devices, it has become possible to make maximum use of the energy obtained in all systems. There are different MPPT types used in systems.
The purpose of this device is to charge our batteries from the solar panel and cut off the charge when our battery is full. In PWM charge controllers, loss occurs while transmitting the energy we produce to the battery. However, mppt charge controllers minimize this loss. While the loss is 25-35% in PWM charge controllers, this rate is around 2-3% in mppt charge controllers. Especially in cloudy weather, the efficiency difference compared to PWM charge controllers is up to 250%.
